Thailand 2006 : Chiang Mai

วัดพระธาตุดอยสุเทพ
Wat Phra That Doi Suthep, Chiang Mai most famous temple and a sacred Buddhist site for Thai

<<< Traditional Lanna
peacock dance performed by the local at Wat Phratat Doi Suthep

>>> Visitors can climb 309 steps to reach the temple from the main road or there is a tram (Bt50 return for foreigner)

Tha Phae gate of the old city wall that once protected Chiang Mai from invassions of Burmese <<<

>>>
Local people are praying inside a Lanna-style Bhuddist temple near the Night Bazaar

<<< What a spectacular sight ! The remains of 15th century Wat Chedi Luang after an earthquake damaged the chedi some 400 years ago

>>>
The famous Night Bazaar of Chiang Mai, starting from Tha Phae gate for approximately 2km and cover a few streets, should be the largest in Southeast Asia i think ! Wish i could live there because the night bazaar is held everyday ! Local delicacies, handicrafts, souvenirs, home decoration, i was spoilt for choice.

<<<
My dinner, some kind of soup with mushroom, fish belly and herbs at only Bt15... cheap cheap cheap
That is "Cha Yen" (Cold Red Tea), a local favorite !

Chiang Mai night view and the Mea Ping river My day trip to Chiang Mai is coming to an end, time to walk to the railway station and take a bath in the toilet before i board my overnight train for Phitsanulok
